Also think about balance when moving up and down the stairs, making sure to place your foot flush on each step.
You will also generally find coming down stairs more difficult to complete, placing more emphasis on how you can accommodate your weight when this needs to be completed. So, maybe only use railing when you come down, and use moving up the stairs as the time in which to place more focus on strengthening your muscles.
